I love the Samsung Galaxy s8+ PLUS (64 GB) and the Samsung Gear VR headset is remarkably cool to use and exceptionally thought-provoking.
There are many free apps for the virtual reality headset and one that I'd like to learn more about is called AltspaceVR -
The only color that Best Buy had in stock, at the store, for the unlocked Galaxy s8+ Plus (64 GB) was the Midnight Black (and I really and truly like it) -
Why did I buy the Galaxy s8 Plus US unlocked (and the Gear VR headset) at Best Buy and not somewhere online?
(1) The international unlocked version of the Galaxy s8+ Plus can be purchased online at Amazon and elsewhere. However, I was able to ascertain that the backside of that version DOES NOT say Galaxy s8+.
The international unlocked version says SAMSUNG on the backside and that's all that it says.
The backside of the Nandi Bear's US unlocked Galaxy s8+ PLUS says SAMSUNG and Galaxy s8+.
(2) With tax and total price the Galaxy s8+ PLUS at Best Buy was $899.23 ($824.99 + 74.24 sales tax).
For that price Best Buy also issues an instant $200.00 Gift Card (not a rebate or a card that you have to wait for in the mail).
I used the Best Buy gift card a few minutes later to purchase the Samsung Gear VR headset.
(3) By making the purchase at Best Buy (rather than online) one can be relatively certain that -
(a.) the phone's warrant is valid
(b.) the phone is genuine (not a knockoff imitation)
(c.) the phone has not been refurbished
After having already ascertained some (not all) of the differences between the US unlocked and the International unlocked versions I decided, just out of curiosity and a sense of inquisitiveness, to ask the sales associate at Best Buy what the difference(s) between the two phones is (aside from the fact that they don't sell the international version).
I was astonished and surprised (maybe I shouldn't have been..) when the Best Buy employee either outright lied to me, or he didn't have answer and just provided me with his best impromptu thoughts, by stating that the only difference is that the US unlocked version wont work outside of the US and that the international version wont work inside the US.
The statements by the Best Buy sales associate are INCORRECT.
The truth is that the US unlocked will work abroad (i.e., outside of the United States) and that the International unlocked will work within the United States.
Moreover, there appears to be a number of differences between the two unlocked version (including the branding on the backside of the phone).
The Nandi Bear hopes that you liked the pics and his brief thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy s8+ Plus, Gear VR and his purchasing experience at Best Buy!
