15th episode of Review of back issues of Reader's Digest magazine. I'm starting with January, 1970 and working forward from there. There's lots of interesting content in these older issues of RD. This program reviews that content and I share my thoughts and opinions.
Quote from page 65, "When I touched his cloths, they were frozen as stiff as wood... He had ice over his nose and mouth."
The foregoing quote is from the Reader's Digest article, "Stowaway: The almost incredible story of a teen-ager who escaped from Cuba by flying the Atlantic in the wheel well of a DC-8," written by Armando Socarras Ramirez as told to Dennis Fodor and John Reddy.
Armando Socarras Ramirez (age 17 at time of escape from Cuba) made it to Spain and then went on (legally) to the United States. Jorge Perez Blanco (age 16 a time of his attempted escape from Cuba) fell out of the wheel well before takeoff (he survived) and shortly thereafter was imprisoned by the Cuban government from his attempted escape (not sure what happened to him after prison (or if there was an after)).
