Bought this book brand new at Books-A-Million in Alexandria, Louisiana on August 23rd, 2024. I hadn't seen a bookstore (any book store at all, not specifically Books-A-Million) in a long time and was starting to think that maybe they no longer existed outside of the internet). When I walked into the bookstore a black girl named Jaidah working there asked me if I needed any help. I probably looked out of place because I was dirty (I work a dirty job) so I stood out to some extent. After I walked around a little I went back to the front of the store to ask her if they had any Michael Crichton books. Crichton passed away in 2008 but unpublished books and unfinished manuscripts had been discovered after his death and from time to time published posthumous. That being said, I was still somewhat surprised when the girl said there was a new Crichton book out. I remember I picked this up in 2008 not too long after it was available in paperback. There's a couple of store stamps (ink stamps) inside the book (please see pictures). One is from "The Book Trader" (in Marion, Iowa, on Collins Road which is the border of Cedar Rapids and Marion in that specific area) and the other is from "Basically Books" in Cedar Rapids (on Edgewood Road). I got the book from The Book Trader. I checked online today and was sad to learn that both stores are now permanently closed. | April 18, 2022, 5:38 pm | 2022001323 |
